Mark C. Bratsch, age 56, of Oshkosh, died at his home on Thursday, March 17, 2011, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on February 2, 1955 to Carleton and Pauline (Langlitz) Bratsch. He graduated from Oshkosh West High School in 1973.
A lover of sports, Mark played football for Oshkosh West, UW-Lacrosse, and UW-Oshkosh, being a part of the team when UW-O won the conference championship in 1976. He was a founding member of the Oshkosh Rugby Football Club, and an active member of the Kill Shot Handball Club. He was an avid Packer fan, and the greatest fan of any team his children were on. Mark wanted to be remembered as caring, loving, as a father, a coach, a hard worker, and as someone who was always willing to help out. Mark worked at Oshkosh Truck and Fed Ex Freight. He loved hunting, fishing, and being outdoors.
Surviving Mark are his children, A.J., Ben, and Leah Bratsch; lifelong friend, Cindy Meinen; mother of his children, Susan Bratsch; half-sister, Carla (Dave) Luedke of Princeton; good friends, Billy Doemel and Todd Boyce; mother-in-law, Nancy Megal; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dan and Sharon Nejedlo of Hortonville; special nephews and niece, Bobby (Jessica), Joey, and Julia Nejedlo, and Mark's yellow lab, Ariel ("Boo"). He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service for Mark will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street. A time for sharing support and memories will be held at the funeral chapel on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.
