Marlene A. Tanner, 73, of Oshkosh, formerly of Omro, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at her home. She was born in Omro, on June 11, 1935, the daughter of Louis and Elsie (Brueske) Butt. She attended Omro schools, and graduated from Omro High School. She married Edward W. Tanner in Omro on January 28, 1956. She worked many years as a secretary at Oshkosh Truck. Marlene loved to dance, so she involved herself in the dance group at the Senior Center in Oshkosh. She enjoyed fishing, spending time with family and friends and traveling.
Marlene is survived and will be missed by her husband, Edward of Oshkosh; her children, Steven Tanner of Milwaukee, David (Laurie) Tanner of Oshkosh, Michele Tanner of Hortonville; her two granddaughters, Casey Tanner of Chicago, IL, and Kristie Tanner of St. Paul, MN; her brothers, Wilbur (Vera) Butt of Oshkosh, David (Judy) Butt of Oshkosh; sister in law, Carol Butt of Winneconne. Marlene is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Kenneth Butt.
Family and friends will gather at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2450 W. 9th Ave., Oshkosh, on Monday, December 1, 2008, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 4:00 p.m., with Rev. Roger Erdman officiating. Private family burial will be in the Omro Cemetery. A memorial in Marlene's name is being established.
