Obituary
Martha A. Asuma passed away on March 10, 2025. She was born in Toronto, Ontario Canada on October 29, 1933, to parents Rev. John and Tekla Saarinen.
Martha attended Augustana Academy in Canton, SD, and graduated from Northern Michigan University in Marquette MI. She married Rev. Thomas Asuma on August 15, 1953. Martha taught in Oshkosh Public Schools and was involved in Precept Ministries, Grace Life Counseling Ministry in Vero Beach, FL. If you asked her how she would like to be remembered, she would say "Truly blessed!"
She is survived by her children, Timothy (Kelly) and Mary (Russell) Dykstra of Oshkosh, Thomas (Raija) of Manitowoc and Mark (Laury) of Sherrills Ford NC, brother-in-law, William Asuma Kailua of HI; grandchildren, Tommy (Lauren) Asuma, Erik (Reme) Asuma, Jonas (Rhysa) Asuma, Matti (Torrey L.) Asuma, Leena (Jeff) Kirt, Marya H. (Lane) Hauer, Mindie (Ryan) Boynton, Chadd Asuma, Haley (Colin) O'Connor, Matthew Asuma and Lauren Asuma; great-grandchildren, Nolen Boynton and Roen Boynton, Tommi Asuma, Mathias Asuma and Theo Asuma, Owen Asuma, Mikko Asuma and Aila Kirt.
Preceding her in death, her husband, Thomas; a sister; and three brothers.
Services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 808 N. Main on Saturday, March 15, with visitation being from 9am to 11am and services to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church. Her final resting place will be at Edgewood Cemetery, Ashtabula, Ohio, next to her husband.
