Obituary

Marvin M. Lisney, age 81, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 13, 2004 at Aurora Medical Center with his family at his side. He was born in Richland County, Wisconsin on August 25, 1922 to William and Helga (Olson) Lisney.
Marvin served his country faithfully with the US Army during World War II from 1941 to 1944. He was wounded in battle and was awarded the Purple Heart. After returning to Wisconsin, Marvin relocated to Oshkosh, where he met Marion Fischer. Marvin and Marion were united in marriage on November 23, 1946. Marvin was employed by the Winnebago County Highway Department until his retirement in 1984.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marion Lisney of Oskosh; two sons, Mark (Mary) Lisney of Louisville, Kentucky and Kevin (Marcia) Lisney of Winneconne; four grandchildren, Erin (Bill) Walker of Tomah; Marty (Melissa) Lisney of Oshkosh; Dani and Taylor Lisney of Winneconne; three great-grandchildren, Raymond, Hannah and Kailey; one sister, Erma Pesch of Oshkosh and many nieces and nephews also survive him. Along with his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by four brothers, Grant, Carl, Vester and Harry Lisney; four sisters, Gladys Hill, Alvina Mitchell, Opal Strey and Christina Davies.
Funeral services for Marvin will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at 11:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 400 N. Sawyer Street with the Reverend Gerald Nerenhausen officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Entombment with full Military Honors by the United Veterans Honor Guard will be in Lake View Memorial Park. A memorial fund has been established for the Zion Lutheran Church Food Pantry.
The family would like to thank the staff at Aurora Medical Center for the outstanding care and compassion given to Marvin and his family this past month.
