Obituary
Marvin "Marv" Matulle passed away on February 20, 2024 at the age of 95.
Marv married Phyllis Wabnitz in 1949. They had a great life together and were blessed with two daughters, Darlene Brandt and Nancy (Tom) Herbst; and three sons Roger, Ken and Wayne. Unfortunately, the Lord had another role for Phyllis and she passed in 1981. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Roger and Ken; daughter, Nancy; his parents, Ernst and Erna (Luebke) Matulle.
Marv was fortunate to find another love and married Donna Shea in 1982. After 40 blessed years together, Donna passed in 2023.
Marv farmed for several years and then worked for the Winnebago County Highway Department, where he retired after 25 years of service. In his retirement, Marv took pride in maintaining the Omro Cemetery. He was an active member of the Omro Kiwanis, always ready to help with the annual chicken barbeque, roasting chicken and shucking corn. Marv loved to kick up his heels to a good polka and play a good hand of sheepshead. He loved his family and was always there to lend a helping hand.
Marv is survived by his daughter, Darlene Brandt; son, Wayne Matulle; son-in-law, Tom Herbst; grandchildren, Cindy Matulle, Kayla Taylor (friend Scott Benoit), Trevor Matulle, Amy (Justin) Wolf, Ryan (Laura) Herbst ; brothers, Harold (Shirley) Matulle and Robert Matulle; sister, Carol Shutta (friend Pat Giddings); five great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews, step-children and step-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Prairie Place Assisted Living, Ripon, SSM Hospice of Fond du Lac and Green Lake and Rev. Dr. Travis Shafer for their care, compassion, and guidance throughout his short end of lifes journey.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024 from 9AM to 11AM at the First Presbyterian Church, 955 N. Webster Ave. Omro, with the Rev. Dr. Travis Shafer officiating. A service will follow at 11AM. Burial will take place at Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
