Mary Lou Brinkmann, age 84, of Oshkosh, died at her home on Wednesday, June 29, 2005 after a short illness. She was born on March 26, 1921 in Miami, Florida, a daughter of the late Rolla L. and Ruth (Roe) Meyer.
She graduated from Miami Edison High School and attended and graduated from college in Tallahassee, Florida. She then worked for Pan American Air Lines for two years before moving to Oshkosh. She married Alfred August Brinkmann on October 23, 1944 at the St. Peter Catholic Church Rectory in Oshkosh with the Reverend Francis McKeough performing the ceremony. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2004.
Mary Lou and her late husband owned and operated Roe Nurseries until retirement in 1976 when the Nursery was purchased by Gary Heinzl. She greatly enjoyed bird watching and time spent at the cottage in Tigerton, along with being very active in her church.
She is survived by a brother, William R. (Bettijean) Meyer of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; brother in law, John (Helen) Brinkmann of Seabrook, Texas; a sister in law, Agnes Brinkmann of Marshfield, Wisconsin; very special friends, Gary and Darlene Heinzl and their children, Steven and Theresa. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Meyer.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Lou will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, 830 S. Westhaven Dr. with Rev. Carl Schmidt celebrating. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Memorials in Mary Lou's memory may directed to St. Raphael Catholic Church.
