Mary Lautenschlager, age 88, of Wautoma and formerly of Oshkosh, died Thursday evening, June 24, 2004 at Heartland House in Wautoma. She was born on July 26, 1915 in Oshkosh to Christian and Magdeline (Hammerly) Ternes. Mary married Alexander Lautenschlager on October 27, 1934 in Neenah and he preceded her in death.
Mary was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was an avid reader of novels. She farmed with her husband and later was employed by Gunderson Cleaners in Menasha.
Survivors include one sister: Verona Ratzburg of Wautoma; her guardians: Ruth and Jack Ratzburg of Wautoma; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding Mary in death are her husband: Alex; son and daughter-in-law: Richard and Nancy Lautenschlager; a brother: John Ternes; a sister: Margaret Paffenroth; two step-brothers: Al and Art Ternes; a step-sister: Leona Pagel.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, 400 North Sawyer Street, with Reverend Clyde Friedman officiating and burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at the church.
