Matthew J. Martinez, age 23, of Omro, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 11, 2014. He was born February 18, 1991, in Milwaukee, the son of Johnny Martinez, Jr. and Dawn Christiansen. Matt was a free spirit who had a contagious laugh, great smile and a deep love for his family. Growing up, his grandpa was his idol and best friend. He liked watching the Discovery channel and always enjoyed sharing trivial facts he had learned with his family. Matt found pleasure in Bob Marley music, watching movies and playing his Play Station 3. He especially liked playing Pokemon, Zombies, Teenage Mutant Turtles and Batman. Out of his entire family, he was the only one who could score a perfect 300 game playing Wii bowling. He was polite, respectful and intelligent and will be deeply missed by his entire family.

Matt is survived by his parents, Johnny (Diane) Martinez, Jr. of Milwaukee, Dawn (Steve Kuhns) Christiansen of Omro; sisters, Melissa (Donny Alcorn) Christiansen, Xochitl (Brian) Schultz, Bianca (Dalton Juedes) Martinez; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hans Christiansen, Joan Christiansen, John Martinez, Sr. and aunt, Sandra Bishop.

The family will receive relative and friends at the funeral home on Sunday, March 16, 2014, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4:00 p.m. A memorial in Matt's name has been established.
