Melanie S. Hoeft, age 29, of Omro, died peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2007. She was born October 3, 1977 in Oshkosh, the daughter of Edwin and LeeAnne (Leinweber) Christenson. Melanie attended Omro High School, Oshkosh West High School and Fox Valley Tech. She was an enthusiastic cat lover and avid music lover who enjoyed concerts and the band "The Grateful Dead". Camping in Florence County, playing board and card games with her boys and going on vacation with her family were activities she cherished. She and her husband owned and operated The Dugout and Fox Wireless in Omro.
Melanie is survived by her husband, John R. II; sons, John R. III and James Edwin; parents, LeeAnne (Ronald) Belock and Edwin Christenson; brothers and sisters, Kim Kramer, Andrew (Denise) Jones, Kevin Christenson, Kelly (Jay) Kargus and Charles (Tina) Christenson; and grandparents, Leland and Dorothy Christenson. Other extended family include, John Hoeft, Susan (Joseph) Mohammed, April (Raymond) Ryan, Matthew (Kelly) Mohammed, Raymond (Catherine) Hoeft, Clair (June) Mongan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Tracy P. Jones; her step sister in law, Tricia Mohammed; maternal grandparents, Dolly and Melvin Klinger; and her special cat, Anna.
Visitation for Melanie will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church, 955 N. Webster Ave. in Omro from 3:00 P.M. until 6:45 P.M. The Funeral Service will follow at 7:00 P.M. at the church with Rev. Edward Slusser officiating. A memorial is being established for her children.
