Merle "Pete" Marsh, age 77, of Neenah, died Monday August 4, 2008, at Theda Clark Medical Center. He was born February, 23, 1931, the son of Ray and Lizzie Marsh. Merle attended Neenah High School and then joined the U.S. Marines in 1948. He was honorably discharged in 1952. Merle married Evelyn Amelia Ross on August 5, 1950; she preceded him in death on September 13, 1995. He then married Shirley Hicks on November 8, 1997. Merle operated the Yellow Cab Co. in Neenah for 35 years and then started Merle's Rapid Delivery in 1990. He operated the delivery service until he sold the company and retired in 1996. Merle was an expert on cars and he loved to collect old cars and ride motorcycles.
Merle is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons, Paul (Gloria) Marsh, James (Marie) Marsh and Allen Marsh; step children, Mark (Nancy) Hicks, Rob (Laurie) Hicks, Cindy Upchurch, Joe (Tina) Korn and Troy and Sam Hicks; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 9 step grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Blank; two aunt's; one uncle; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Evelyn; and sister, Lois Ruhl.
In respect to Merle's memory, the family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, August 11, 2008 at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. James Deckert officiating. Merle will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Neenah.
