Michael S. "Mike" Nygaard, age 54, of Oshkosh, died Thursday afternoon, February 13, 2014, in the loving presence of his family. Born on September 14, 1959, in Oshkosh, the son of Arlo "Stanley" and Joyce Miller Nygaard, Mike married Jane Zelhofer in 1981.
A Senior Maintenance Planner for Bemis Corporation, Mike enjoyed spending time on his Harley going to Harley-Davidson events. Some of Mike's favorite activities included deer hunting at Gordy Russell's cabin, bass fishing, and volunteering at Race the Lake – he was also an avid gun enthusiast.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Nygaard of Oshkosh; a daughter, Melissa Nygaard of Oshkosh; a son, Jeremy Nygaard of Dana Point, California; a sister, Cheryl (Henry) Klemmer of Oshkosh; a brother, Eric (Tina) Nygaard of Oshkosh; his mother-in-law, Marguerite Zelhofer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; best friends, Bill and Kim Marheine of Oshkosh; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his four legged children, Sadie and Mick. Preceding Mike in death are his parents, grandparents, step-mother, Sylvia Nygaard, and his father-in-law, Raymond Zelhofer.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in Seefeld Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street. In lieu of flowers, memorials to H.O.G.
