Obituary

Micheal L. Laiten "Mike", age 69, of Omro, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 1, 2012. Mike was born May 2, 1942, the son of Lew and Mabel (Lewis) Laiten. He proudly served his country, in Thailand during Vietnam, with the US Army. He was the Honor Graduate for the Amphibius Engineering Course. On September 30, 1967, he married Sharon Hellwig at Fort Campbell, KY. Mike farmed the family farm for many years, then went to work for Wisconsin Tubing, retiring after 14 years. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Omro-Rushford Fire Dept. Mike enjoyed playing cards, fishing and the Packers. He kept informed about current events and politics.
Mike is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sharon; his adult children, Michael, Charles, Darrin (Michele)and Shari; his grandchildren and great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will gather at the Omro Funeral Home on Saturday, January 7, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Military Honors presented by Omro American legion Post 234 at 11:00 a.m. Mike will be laid to rest at Wisconsin Veteran Cemetery, King, Wisconsin. Mike's family would like to thank Aurora Hospice and friends Patti and Mary, for all the care given to Mike and Sharon.
