Morton E. West, Sr., age 76, of Omro, and formerly of Fond du Lac, died Tuesday afternoon, March 22, 2016. He was born on November 15, 1939, in Minnesota, the son of Carl and Dora (Nelson) West. An over the road, owner/operator, commercial truck driver since the 1960's, Mort was a mechanically minded person who enjoyed to hunt and fish when the opportunities were available. An U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a member of Essential Rock Church in Fond du Lac. Survivors include the mother of his children, Janie West; five children, Morton (Linda) West, Jr., Matthew (Heidi) West, J. Ronald (Alisha) West, Heidi (Dave Nichols) West, and Tyrone (Danielle) West; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim and Jack West; and James and Heidi and their five children. Preceding Mort in death are his parents, a brother, Don West, and a young sister. Memorial services will be held on Monday, March 28, 2016, at 5:00 p.m. in Essential Rock Church, 40 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac, with Pastor John Slotten officiating. Military Honors will be given following the services. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held at the church from 4:00 p.m. until service time.
