Myrtle H. Bauer, age 100, died Wednesday afternoon, March 21, 2012, at Park View Health Center. Born on February 28, 1912, in Oshkosh, to Harry and Dione (Coffey) Hafemeister, Myrtle married Joseph F. Bauer on August 12, 1935, and he preceded her in death in 1965. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a long time active member of the Ladies Altar Society. A devoted mother and homemaker, Myrtle spent her life caring for her family. She enjoyed playing cards and watching TV, especially The Lawrence Welk Show, Little House on the Prairie, and Gunsmoke.
Mourning her passing are her children, Jerome (Judy) Bauer, Greg (Pat) Bauer, Joe (Kris Trudell) Bauer, Dione (Gerald) Gunther, and Bernie (Laurel) Bauer; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Amy Justman) Bauer, James (Emma) Bauer, Jennifer Bauer, Michael (Mary) Bauer, Paul (Kim) Bauer, Ann (Paul) Connell, Joseph J. Bauer, Gerald Gunther, Brian (Hillary) Gunther, Aaron Bauer, and Adam Bauer; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Carolyn, Katherine, Addison, Oliver, Macauly, Madeline, Emily, Nicholas, Kaitlyn, Olivia, James, and Elizabeth; a sister, Irene Hoffmann; and two sisters-in-law, Ruth Bauer, and Armene Hafemeister. Preceding Myrtle in death is her husband, parents, two brothers, Willard and Harry Hafemeister, and infant sister, Dione Hafemeister, two sisters-in-law, Agnes Siebenhaar and Sister Mathildas Bauer; and two brothers-in-law, Henry and Richard Bauer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Jude the Apostle Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 519 Knapp Street, with Reverend Mathew Simonar officiating. Myrtle will be laid to rest next to her husband, Joseph, at Sacred Heart Cemetery following the Funeral Mass. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established by her family. A sincere thank you is extended, by Myrtle's family, to the caring staff at Park View Health Center for the excellent care and compassion given to their mother and grandmother.
