Myrtle L. Jawort, age 99, of Oshkosh, died Wednesday morning August 4, 2010, at Bethel Home. Born on June 11, 1911 in Wild Rose, Wisconsin, to Harold and Laura (Handrich) Frazier, Myrtle married Walter H. Jawort on September 4, 1937 at St. Mark's Church in Symco, Wisconsin.
A long time member of Grace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, Myrtle was active with Grace Circle and Grace Forever Young. She was a one-room school teacher in the Manawa School District in her early years. Later, Myrtle and Harold owned and operated the Oshkosh Dairy. After selling the dairy, she was employed by Deltox Corporation and Bergstrom Paper Company. Myrtle enjoyed quilting, swimming at the YMCA, and traveling to the southwest states of the country.
Survivors include five children, Nancy Holsworth of Oshkosh, Jim (Cheryl) Jawort of White Lake, Wisconsin, Tom Jawort of Port Washington, Curt Jawort of Oshkosh, and Lois Jawort of Oshkosh; six grandchildren, Jock, Dan, Melissa, Nicole, Lea, and Jay; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Edna Wirth of Manawa; and nieces and nephews. Preceding Myrtle in death is her husband, parents, daughter-in-law, Shirley Jawort, a brother, Loran Frazier, and two sisters, Doris Krinner and Ione Bartel.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 913 Nebraska Street, with Reverend Jeffrey Duquaine officiating. Interment will be at Little Wolf Cemetery in Manawa, Wisconsin. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will be held on Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Memorials in Myrtle's name may be directed to Grace Circle at Grace Lutheran Church.
