Obituary

Dr. Neil W. Kloehn, D.D.S. age 83, of Appleton, formerly of Peshtigo, died Tuesday, December 6, 2005. He was born September 4, 1922 in the Town of Rush Lake, WI, the son of Reinhold and Bessie (Bishop) Kloehn. He had attended Waukau State Grade School from 1928 to 1936; Omro High School from 1936 to 1940; Oshkosh State Teacher's College from 1940 to 1942; and then served in World War II. While serving our country, he was stationed in Island Operations Australia, New Guinea, Indonesia and the Philippines. Following his tour of duty he had attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison from 1946 to 1948 and received his Bachelor's of Science Degree. He went on to graduate from Marquette University Dental School in 1953 with a D.D.S. He had a private dental practice in Waupun from 1953 to 1956, and then became Chief Dentist at the Wisconsin State Reformatory from 1956 until 1969. He returned to private practice in 1970 in Peshtigo until his retirement in 1983.

Neil's passion was traveling; in 1969, he took five months off from dentistry to travel around the world by freighter. He was an avid reader, always questing for more knowledge and in his quest, enjoyed watching CNN & Jeopardy on TV or looking for new foods to try and enjoy.

Neil is survived and will be missed by his nephews and niece, Barry Piechocki of Appleton, Rick Piechocki of New London, Kirby Piechocki of Clintonville, Sheila (Daniel) Gilbert of Appleton, Steve Kloehn of Waukau; his sister in law, Lenora Hilke of Ripon, numerous great nieces, great nephews and great great niece and great great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Lorraine Piechocki and his brother, Gordon Kloehn.

In respect to Neil's memory, a visitation will be held on Monday, December 12, 2005 at the Omro Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Neil will be laid to rest next to his parents in Waukau Cemetery.
