Norbert G. Mellenthin, age 94, of Omro, died early Wednesday morning, May 18, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center. Norbert was born July 19, 1916, in Spencer, WI the son of Herman and Sabine (Hoops) Mellenthin. He married Minnie E. Boehning on June 11, 1938 at the Auburndale Immanuel Lutheran Church. Norbert had worked for and retired in 1981 from Georgia Pacific. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, the outdoors, nature and spending time with his grandchildren. Norbert was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Omro.

Norbert is survived by his loving daughter, Debra (Mark) Kozel of Granada Hills, CA; daughter-in-law, Patricia Mellenthin of Omro; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; sisters, Doris Schultz of Sycamore, IL. and Sally Smith of Ripon, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, Minnie, son, DuWayne, sisters, Bernice McIlhattan and Lucille Klubertanz.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 19, 2011, from 4-8 P.M. and then on Friday, May 20, 2011, at Grace Lutheran Church, 720 Jackson Ave., Omro, from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Richard Bartholomew officiating. Burial will follow in the Omro Cemetery. Memorials in Norbert's name may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church.
