Norman "Nubs" Jordan, age 91, died Wednesday afternoon, February 18, 2009 at Alterra Sterling House in Oshkosh. Born on March 6, 1917 in Oshkosh to George and Anna (Weitzel) Jordan, Norman married Dorothy "Dottie" Weigandt on May 3, 1941 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. She preceded him in death on July 14, 2008.
A 35 year employee of Paine Lumber Company, Norman worked in the wood finishing department before retiring in the early 1980's. A life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church, he was a member of the Zion Church Choir, Zion Food Pantry, German Historical Society of Russian Decent, and was an avid golfer. During WWII, Norman served his country with the U.S. Army in the European Theatre.
Left to mourn his passing are four children, Karen (James) Hoffman, Sandra (David) Angle, Marcia Ballassare, and David (Tracey) Jordan; a sister, Esther Scheuermann; a sister-in-law, Ruth Esslinger; 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Norman in death is his wife, Dottie; parents; a daughter, Mary Gauger; three brothers; and four sisters.
A funeral service to remember Norman's life will be held on Monday, February 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, 400 North Sawyer Street, with Reverend Jeffrey Knoll officiating. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will be held on Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 300 North Eagle Street, and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
