Norman G Krause, 86, passed away on Sunday, September 13th. Norman was born in Berlin WI on January 27, 1940, to the late Margaret (Krause) and Harold Krause. Norman graduated from Berlin High School, Berlin WI. Shortly after school he began working at Paine Lumber before joining the United States Army as an airplane mechanic. Once he returned from his years in the service he started working for Speed Queen (Alliant Laundries) retiring after more than 30 years of work. He was a dedicated hardworking man, and very proud of that.

He married Sandra Johnson on January 12, 1963, having one son, Rick, born on July 5, 1963. Norman was so proud of being a dad and cherished the time he spent with Rick. Unfortunately, Rick tragically passed away in 2008, Norman was heartbroken.

He was known and loved by so many, even if you didn’t think you knew him chances are you did, as he was always out and about in the communities which he resided and grew up in. In his youth he enjoyed a cold winter’s day so he could be out and about on his snowmobile and in the warmth of the summer he loved nothing more than to be out riding his motorcycle. Always joined by his brothers and friends, who were like his family. There were many camping trips throughout his lifetime including weekends in Crandon where he enjoyed the offroad races. He could go that entire weekend without any sleep. All he wanted was to take in every minute, enjoying it and making the most of that time, talking with absolutely every person at the campground.

The family trips were the best, every brother in their station wagons with all their kids, family was everything to him. Every gathering included endless games of volleyball, horseshoes and playing cards, fierce but friendly competition. Fall brought another favorite hobby, hunting season, which meant special memories with his son, brothers and friends, fun was had by all at the hunting shack. Many of you would know Norman as a permanent fixture at the Auroraville Fisheree’s in February of every year. He was a staple at the bar selling drinks or paddles. If you ever attended a car show/swap meet within a hundred mile radius he was there. His love for Ford’s was questionable as you wonder if that was his first love above all. His garage was proof of that, as it was a shrine of Fords. If you ever saw him working in the garage, which was all the time, he would be tinkering with his many vehicles. You always knew you were welcome and could stop in for a chat and cold one. But be ready to hear about the Fords, as he would argue until he was blue in the face that they were better than any other vehicle manufactured on this Earth.

Later in life he took up a new hobby, biking. Norman could be seen on a daily basis riding his bicycle from Waukau to the boat landing on Leonard Point in Omro, he put on more miles than most professionals. He loved being outdoors and seeing every person in his community.

Norman is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sandra, Omro; brother, Vernon (Kathy) Krause, Berlin; sisters, Betty Southworth, Milwaukee and Glenda (Arden) Schalk, Green Bay; as well as sisters-in-law, Judy Krause, Omro, Sharon Krause, Berlin and Diane Krause, Berlin; brother and sisters-in-law, Larry (Bernie) Johnson, Fond du Lac, Randy Johnson, Fond du Lac, Blair Johnson, Shawano, Judy (Danny) Everett, North Carolina, Joan Johnson, Fond du Lac; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Margaret; his son, Rick; brothers, Gordon Krause, Marlin Krause, Leonard Krause, Allen Krause and Leland Krause; and brothers-in-law, Fred Southworth and Clifford Johnson.

Funeral services for Norman will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Grace Lutheran Church, 720 Jackson Ave., Omro, WI, 54963, with visitation being from 9:00 am until 11:00 am with services following. He will be laid to rest at the Omro Cemetery next to his son, Rick.

The family would also like to extend their thanks to Country Villa in Omro, WI and Generations Hospice for their endless support and exceptional service. Both of them made a completely difficult situation bearable with their continuous compassion and consideration.
