Orin L. Kutz, 85, of Oshkosh, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born in Lamartine, Wisconsin, on February 13, 1922 a son of the late Frederick Ernest Paul (Leona Gertrude Hielsberg) Kutz. Orin married Dorothy James at the Union Congregational Church in Berlin on September 22, 1951. She preceded him in death on September 13, 2002. Their children are Margaret Anne (Douglas) Dewey of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Katherine Roeske of Oshkosh. Their grandchildren are Trevor Allan (Addie) Dewey of St. Charles, Missouri, David James Dewey of Toyo, Japan, Christina Anne and Emily Elizabeth Roeske both of Oshkosh. He is further survived by his siblings, Leonard Kutz of Appleton, Delbert (Irene) Kutz of Green Lake, Omar (Marilyn) Kutz of Oshkosh, Donald Kutz of Wautoma, Richard (Jean) Kutz of Ripon and Walter (Sue) Kutz of Rosendale along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. His brothers, Ivan and Theodore, sisters, Elnora Wright and Dora Crump and ? sister Virginia Koentop preceded him in death.
Orin served in the Army Air Force during World War II and the Reserves for 38 years retiring as a Master Sergeant in the US Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion Cook-Fuller Post 70 and VFW #1908. He had been an active member of First Congregational Church and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels and transporting disabled veterans. He even did some Bingo calling for the Eastern Star group. Orin retired from a custodial job with the school system in 1984 after nearly 20 years of service. He and Dorothy loved to travel and participated in many Welsh Gymanfoedd Ganu hymn sings.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at First Congregational Church, 137 Algoma Blvd. The Revs. Ralph and Carol DiBiasio- Snyder will lead the event. Family and friends may gather at the church on Wednesday beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Park. Condolences may be shared online at www.seefeldfuneral.com.
