Orville C. Koplitz, age 96, of Oshkosh, died Tuesday evening, July 12, 2016, at Aurora Medical Center. Born on March 29, 1920, in Oshkosh, the son of Harmin and Olga (Nachtrab) Koplitz, Orville married Audrey Dougherty on March 2, 1948, in Oshkosh.
A life-long member of First English Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, Orville farmed with his parents in the Township of Nekimi before his marriage. He then was employed by the Soo railroad Line of North Fond du Lac before his retirement in 1985. Orville formed his own band, "Orville Koplitz Orchestra," and was a member of Musicians' Local #46. He was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Audrey Koplitz of Oshkosh; a son, Wayne Koplitz of Oshkosh; a grandson, Brian Koplitz of Oshkosh; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirley and Glenn Neuenfeldt of Brandon, South Dakota; nieces and nephews. Preceding Orville in death are his parents; a son, Thomas Koplitz; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Koplitz; a sister and brother-in-law, Pearl and John Brantmier; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. in Seefeld Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, with Reverend Timothy Greenwald officiating. Interment will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in the Township of Nekimi. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Saturday from 12 Noon until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
