Patricia M. Kaprelian, age 83, of Oshkosh, died Thursday, March 24, 2011, at Park View Health Center. Born on August 3, 1927, in Manitowoc, Pat was the last of six children born to Thomas and Alva (Bursek) McKeough. On May 27, 1950, Pat married Seraph (Kappy) Kaprelian in Oshkosh and he preceded her in death on May 6, 2007.
Educated at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Pat earned a Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Spanish. Her lifelong career included teaching at New London, Wisconsin, Oshkosh West and North High Schools, the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and church school. For many years she also translated foreign languages for a number of Oshkosh firms, notably United States Motors Corporation.
A member of First Congregational Church, Pat was very active in multiple areas of the church. She was also a member of Oshkosh Chamber Singers, Green Lake Chorales, a 25 year Docent at EAA, and served on the Oshkosh Public Library Board.
Survivors include a son, Jim (Liz) Kaprelian of Oshkosh; three grandchildren, Erin, Sarah, and Brian Kaprelian, all of Oshkosh; a brother-in-law, Dr. George (Mickey) Kaprelian of Sunnyvale, California; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Pat in death is her husband, parents, four sisters, and one brother.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. in First Congregational Church, 137 Algoma Blvd., with Reverends Ralph and Carol DiBiasio-Synder co-officiating. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will be held on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. It was Pat's wish that flowers be omitted and memorials given to First Congregational Church or the Oshkosh Public Library in her memory.
