Peggy Lou Spanbauer, age 73 of Oshkosh died unexpectedly, Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center. She was born in Omro on November 20, 1937 and was the daughter of Orvis and Frances "Polly" (Harris) Beck.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Leo "Ted" Spanbauer, brothers Jerome "Shine" Beck and Kenneth "Dobber" Beck, and Aunt Gladys Beck.
Peggy is survived by one daughter Kim Wollen, Fiancé Dan Kosinski, grandchildren Joe and Celestria and great-grandson Treyvyn, all of Lincoln, Nebraska. Son, Kevin (Tracy) Spanbauer, grandchildren Jarred and Whitney, and great-granddaughters Ruby and Rosemary all of Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Son, Kip (Lisa) Spanbauer and granddaughter Kiana of Oshkosh. Son, Kal (Pam) Spanbauer and granddaughter Andrea of Oshkosh. Sister in-laws, Beverly Beck and Joan Beck of Omro and brother in-law Deloyd "Dee" (Joanie) Spanbauer of Oshkosh and many more relation; cousins, nieces, nephews.
Peg had a gift of making a checkout clerk at a grocery store go from crabby to happy with a simple smile or sarcastic humorous comment. She sensed negative energy in people around her. She would take that negative energy, tuck it into her pocket, pull it back out and turn it into something positive, changing the whole mood of her surroundings. Peg loved art, music and nature unconditionally; whether it be watching the birds she had just fed, giving fun and loving care to her many pets over the years, or simply pruning a tree and watching the sun set while the Beatles were playing on the radio in the background. Most of all Peg loved family and friends. She wanted to be a part of happiness and try to fix any signs of sadness; a refreshing rare breed of good people in today's world. Everyone needs a charmed spirit like a Peggy Spanbauer in their lives… she will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be sent to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society in Peggy Spanbauer's name in honor of her surviving pet cat "Stoney".
