Peter J. "Petie" Gibson, age 74, of Menasha and formerly of Oshkosh, died Sunday afternoon, February 16, 2014, at home with his family by his side. Born on September 22, 1939, in Oshkosh, the son of Gerald and Mildred Gibson, Petie married Lynn K. Vicker on July 16, 1982, in Oshkosh.
He was employed by Oshkosh Office Supply and later was a 30+ year employee of Badger Mill Supply in the shipping/receiving department before his retirement. Never one to sit still in retirement, Petie went to work for Smith Security, was a bartender, as well as a crossing guard for the Oshkosh School District. He enjoyed the time spent at Captain's Cove near Gresham, Wisconsin, riding around in his golf cart. His friends knew him as "One more, Petie". He also enjoyed attending Packers games and stock car races.
Survivors include his wife, Lynn Gibson of Menasha; five children, Scott Gibson of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, Tim Gibson, Jeff Gibson, Mara (Daniel Molash) Wegner, and Connie (Darcy) Schraven all of Oshkosh; 10 grandchildren, Kyle, Nicole, Ethan, Bryce, Seth, Courtney, Zack, Brittany, Shayla, and Xander; his siblings, Robert (Delores) Gibson of Oshkosh, Gerald (Rita) Gibson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Gloria Lennon of Oshkosh; nieces and nephews; and his loyal companion, Precious. Preceding Petie in death are his parents, a daughter-in-law, Diane Gibson, a grandson, Brandon Wegner, and a very dear family friend, Virginia Tritt. A service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. in St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, 830 S. Westhaven Drive, with Reverend Douglas LeCaptain officiating. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Friday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the church.
