Obituary

Peter E. Hassler, age 65, of Oshkosh, died peacefully on Monday, April 7, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by his loving family after battling 6 years of kidney cancer. He was born August 4, 1942 in Oshkosh to Donald and Jane (Schulz) Hassler. Pete graduated from Neenah High School in 1960. He married Armenia "Minnie" Gomez Zachow on September 22, 1962 St. Gabriel Catholic Church.


Pete was employed as a sales manager for telecommunications in Green Bay for 25 years. Later he was a Wisconsin Certified Residential Specialist for Coldwell Bankers the Real Estate Group as well as an independent property manager. He was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, Past President of Green Bay Jaycees, Jr. Achievement, Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, Oshkosh Southwest Rotary, St. Vincent DePaul, and Treasurer of Knights of Columbus. South Dakota was a get-away place, a hunting home that he called "Yellow Rose", where Pete could hunt ducks and pheasants.


Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Minnie Hassler of Oshkosh; children, Steve (Kimberly) Hassler of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Denise (Jerrod) Josephson of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Rachel and Hannah Hassler, and Senya Josephson; brothers, T.J. Patrick (Jodi) Hassler of Dallas, Texas, Michael Joseph (Pei) Hassler of Huntington Beach, California, Christopher John Hassler of Neenah, and Nicholas (Maureen) Hassler of Milwaukee; sisters, Rachel (Mark) Sessa of Algonquin, Illinois, and Rebecca Kaforey of Chicago, Illinois; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Lali Stille and their children, Rich, Scott, and Michael Stille families; nieces and nephews, Christine and Carrie, Jennifer and Jonathan, Domenic and Abigail. Preceding Peter in death is his son, Andrew Hassler, and his parents.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 11, 2008 at 12 Noon in Most Blessed Sacrament Parish (St. Mary site, 619 Merritt Ave.) with Reverend James Jugenheimer officiating. Interment will take place at St. Margaret Mary Cemetery in Neenah. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will be held on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, and on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church. A prayer service will be held on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Expressions of sympathy may be given to Oshkosh Area Community Foundation in Peter's memory.
