Dr. Philip C. Froehlke, 69, of Oshkosh passed away on Friday, September 5, 2008 at Froedtert Memorial Hospital in Milwaukee. He was born in Oshkosh on November 21, 1938, a son of the late Adolph and Doris (Kalfahs) Froehlke. Phil graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1956. He attended UW-Oshkosh for two year and then earned his dental degree from Northwestern University in 1962. His service in the US Navy as a dentist with the rank of Lieutenant Commander had him stationed in Vietnam, Korea and Japan. He was joined in holy matrimony with Ann Bartol on September 25, 1971 at Martin Luther Ev. Lutheran Church in Oshkosh.
Phil belonged to the American Dental Society, Wisconsin State Dental Society and Winnebago County Dental Society and was a long time member of the Oshkosh Noon Kiwanis Club. He was an active member of Martin Luther Church, serving as a trustee and church council member from 1965-71 and also as president of the congregation from 1975-81. He and Ann greatly enjoyed going up north and spending time at their cabin.
Cherishing his memory are his beloved wife of nearly 37 years, Ann Froehlke of Oshkosh; sister, Elizabeth (Joseph) Fry of Lombard, Illinois; sisters-in-law, Nancy Bartol of Milwaukee and Mae Froehlke of Tinley Park, Illinois; along with nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Dr. Theodore and Dr. Thomas Froehlke.
The funeral to celebrate the life of Philip Froehlke will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 8th, at Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1526 Algoma Blvd., led by the Rev. Jeffrey Berg. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 11:00 a.m. He will be inurned at Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of floral tributes, memorial contributions to Martin Luther Ev.
