Phyllis I. Basler, age 87, of Omro, died peacefully Wednesday, September 5, 2012. Phyllis was born in Morris, IL, on September 30, 1924, the daughter of William and Gladys (Doyle) Laughlin. She moved to Omro in 1955 from Morris, IL. She had worked various jobs throughout her life and was extremely proud of being a District Manager covering six counties for Avon Cosmetics. Phyllis was very active in the Omro Community for many years. She was instrumental in starting a chair exercise class for seniors, was a member of the Friends of the Library, and also served on the Election Board, Cemetery Board, and Recycling Committee in 2002. In addition to her community involvement, Phyllis also enjoyed photography and art and had won numerous awards for her paintings and photography. She helped paint several of the historic murals around town and still has some of her paintings on display throughout the City and City Hall.
Phyllis is loved and will be missed by her son, Jim (Charlene) Koepnick of Oshkosh; her cat, Gabby; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, September 8, 2012, at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Omro Cemetery.
