Ralph Dickson, age 91, of Oshkosh, died Sunday morning, May 9, 2004 at Oshkosh Medical and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on December 1, 1912 in Waterloo, Iowa to John and Edna (Stannard) Dickson. Ralph married Laura Koch on September 5, 1942 in Oshkosh.
Ralph was employed for 8 years at Wisconsin Axle and later as a door finisher at Paine Lumber Company for 29 years before retiring in 1975. He served with the military police during WWII. Ralph was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served as Financial Secretary, Trustee, and Usher. He was a member of American Legion Cook-Fuller Post 70. Ralph was a team member of the Dart-ball League at Immanuel Lutheran Church, enjoyed spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, visiting with family members in Arkansas, and harmonica music (self-taught) at holiday family reunions.
Survivors include his wife: Laura of Oshkosh; one daughter: Sharon (Richard) Kumbier of Waukesha; four grandchildren: Paul (Shannon) Kumbier of Delafield; Chad (Jennifer) Kumbier of Shorewood; Jill (Michael) Tostrud of New Berlin; and Dawn (James) Schuette of Lakeville, Minnesota; six great-grandchildren: Erica Schuette, Nathan Kumbier, Lauren Tostrud, Allison Schuette, Bethany Tostrud, and CJ Kumbier; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Preceding Ralph in death are his parents, four brothers, and six sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at 11:30 a.m. in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 338 North Eagle Street, Reverend David Pagel will officiate and interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the church. Memorials in Ralph's memory to Immanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund would be appreciated.
