Obituary

Randall "Randy" D. Rees, age 56, died peacefully Wednesday morning, June 11, 2008, at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton, following a courage battle with Cancer. He was born December 11, 1951, in Oshkosh, the son of Orville Rees and Muriel (Rees) Howard. Randy had served in the YCC Corp youth in 1968. He had served in the US Army for 15 years, attaining the rank of E-7, Sgt. 1st Class. Randy was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Marksman Sharpshooter Medal and was also one of the top recruiters for the Army. He had served in the 125th Infantry in Hawaii and was assigned to burial detail. Randy had owned and operated the Shamrock Tavern in Waukau for 12 years. During his free time, he enjoyed boating, fishing and traveling to Jamaica.

Randy is survived by his children, Randall of Appleton, Rachel of Stevens Point and Charles of California; his father, Arthur Howard; brothers and sisters, Dorothy (Mike) Widder of Omro, Steve (Carol) Howard, Vickie (Paul) Spaulding, Pamela (Jim) Ryckman and Jeffrey (Peggy) Howard, all of Oshkosh; special friends, Monica "Moxie" Bishop of Poygan, and Tom and Diana Hanseter of Omro; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Muriel (Rees) Howard, sister, Barbara; and brothers, Edward Rees and Scott Howard.

In respect to Randy's memory, the family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, June 16, 2008 at the Omro Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and then again on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. John Covach officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post # 234 of Omro. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to either the Easter Seals Camp Wawbeek, 1450 State Hwy. 13, Wisconsin Dells, WI 53965 or The Community Hospice Foundation, 1818 N. Meade St., Appleton, WI 54911.

The family would like to thank Edie May, other friends, hospice workers and volunteers, Chaplain Jordan Knczwara and Rev. John Covach for all their kindness and care shown to Randy and the rest of the family.
