Raymond George
Fraleigh
Mar 10, 1939 — Jun 4, 2026
Raymond G. Fraleigh, 87, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026, in Oshkosh, WI, surrounded by his loving family. Ray was born in Omro, WI to George F. and Florence L. (Herbst) Fraleigh on March 10, 1939. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1957 and was honorably discharged in 1959.
He married the love of his life, Karen (née Krueger), in 1960 and together they raised their three children. He worked for most of his career at the Speed Queen plants in Omro and Ripon, WI, as both a machinist and inspector. He also spent 25 years at the School District of Omro doing parttime maintenance and custodial work. Ray enjoyed many activities and hobbies. He had a knack for building and fixing things and put that talent to work remodeling and landscaping several of his family’s homes.
In his youth he excelled at baseball, football, basketball and track, and continued to play softball for many years after high school. Ray loved the outdoors, and shared his passion for fishing, hunting, and camping with his family. Over the years he acquired several motorcycles, and together with Karen spent many years touring and exploring the US and Canada with friends Carole and Willie Lee. Ray also loved to sing and – after much persuasion by his family – summoned the courage to join the church choir.
In their retirement years, he and Karen purchased a vacation home in Haines City, FL where they spent their winters listening to music, playing cards and traveling with an ever-growing circle of friends. Ray will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his mischievous sense of humor, his willingness to go out of his way for others, and his love of dancing with Karen, drinking coffee, and making great Old Fashioneds.
Ray is survived by his loving wife, Karen; children, Keith (Julie), Paula and Paul (Judy); grandchildren, Brian (Lauren) Fraleigh, Kristin (Alex) Ebert, Brandon (Amanda) Fraleigh, Leah (Greg) Bothwell, Hunter (Justine) Zillmer, and Kayla (Jon) Meulemans; great-grandchildren, Rose, Lily, Benjamin, Owen, Harrison and Hans; brother, Mark Brosseau; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lynda (Wyatt) Miller and Elwyn Anderson; and aunt, Dorothy Wightman, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Florence Fraleigh; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lola and Erwin Krueger; and his sister-in-law, Darlene Anderson.
Ray was laid to rest with military honors in a private family ceremony at Oak Hill Cemetery in Poygan, WI.
The family would like to extend its heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of the Serenity Garden unit at Bethel Home, Elijah’s Place Assisted Living Center, Eden Meadows Rehabilitation Center, Preceptor Hospice and Compassus Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
