Rexford Hans Jacobson, age 81 of Oshkosh, passed away Tuesday morning, November 15, 2011 at Omro Care Center, with his loving family by his side. Rex was born on September 14, 1930, in Winnebago County. He served our country in the U. S. Army from 1953 to 1955.
In his younger years, Rex was a boat builder for Dumphy Boats. Then he was an auto body repairman and car salesman for Fairway Auto Sales, which he owned with his son, DuWayne. He thoroughly enjoyed vacationing and fishing at the cottage he built in St. Germain; hunting and tending his garden at the log cabin he built in Princeton. He also had a special talent of always getting a deal at various flea markets.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Shrock), who he married on October 29, 1955; his children: Richard (Laura) Jacobson, Roxane Jacobson, and Jeffrey (Karen Fredrick) Jacobson, Tammy (Benjamin) Brinkman, all of Oshkosh; grandchildren: Amber (Ben) Krumenauer, Jeremy Jacobson, and Shawn (Faith) Macrellis; brother, Marvin (Betty) Jacobson; sister: Joan Giese; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by sons, Daniel and DuWayne Jacobson; parents, Richard and Alva Jacobson; and brother, Kenneth Jacobson.
Visitation will be held at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street on Thursday, November 17, 2011 from 4:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. with a Rosary Service at 7:00 P.M.; visitation will continue on Friday, November 18, 2011, at St. Jude the Apostle Parish, St. Vincent Church, 1225 Oregon Street, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 A.M., with Father Mathew Simonar officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery with the Honor Guard of Berlin Club VFW 2925 performing Military Honors. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being set up by the family.
