Obituary

Richard N. "Dick" Dittmer, age 76, of Oshkosh, died Friday evening, October 29, 2010, at Aurora Medical Center. Born on December 2, 1933, in Oshkosh, to Norman and Josephine (Stelter) Dittmer, Dick married Ruth Pelz on May 15, 1954 in Oshkosh. Ruth preceded Dick in death on February 12, 2002.
For 44 years Dick was employed by Rockwell International, until retiring at age 62, with the position of Gauge Inspector. He was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church, enjoyed golfing and playing cards, and was a sports enthusiast. Dick was very handy and could fix or repair almost anything. A trade-mark of Dick's were big hugs that were just "unbelievable".
Left to mourn his passing are two sons, Bruce (Terry) Dittmer of Oceanside, California, and Steven (Molly) Dittmer of Oshkosh; five grandchildren, Peter (Lindsay) Dittmer, Nicole (Nick) Skoglind, Katelyn, Jared, and Eliot Dittmer; two great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Brooke; four siblings, Jackie Grippo of Oshkosh, Ralph Dittmer of Oshkosh, Norma (Gene) Langlitz of Oshkosh, and Judi (George) Prescott of West Bend; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Dick in death are his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. in Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 300 North Eagle Street, with Reverend Rick Hopkins officiating, assisted by James Stadler. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel. In lieu of floral expressions, a memorial is being established by the Dittmer family in Dick's name. A special thank you to the nurses and staff of Aurora Medical Center Critical Care Unit for the gentle care and concern given to Dick and the Dittmer family these last few days.
