Obituary

Richard "Dick" M. Kaelin, Sr., age 76, of Oshkosh, died Sunday evening, June 13, 2004 at Aurora Medical Center. He was born on May 30, 1928 in Oshkosh to Martin J. and Madeline M. (Zenizek) Kaelin. Richard married Pauline D. Golz on July 8, 1950, in Dubuque, Iowa. Three years after their marriage, they reaffirmed their vows on November 21, 1953 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Oshkosh.
Richard served his country in both the United States Army and Air Force. He worked for many years for Civil Defense in Oshkosh, tending to public relief after disasters and guarding the Winnebago County Fairgrounds. He worked at A.O. Smith in Milwaukee and later at Brickham Stamping in Oshkosh, where he was employed for over twenty years. Richard retired in 1983. He was an avid fan of all Wisconsin sports teams (and master of the TV remote control) but his true passion was watching the Packers play. Richard loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas, where his luck rarely ran out.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Pauline, of Oshkosh, and their seven children: Richard, Jr. of Oshkosh, Russell (Gloria) of Neenah, Michael of Oshkosh, Lynn Kaelin of Oshkosh, Katherine (Rich) Rennert of Oshkosh, John (Julie) of Oshkosh, and Pam (Terry) Olejnik of Oshkosh; seventeen grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two sisters, Emily Neustifter and Angela Demler, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
