Richard B. Steinike, age 78, of Oshkosh, died Friday afternoon, October 8, 2010. Born on March 3, 1932, in Oshkosh to Robert and Freda (Mittelstadt) Steinike, Richard married June L. Whittemore on October 19, 1957, in Oshkosh. June preceded Richard in death on August 1, 1994.
First employed by Guernsey Dairy Company in Oshkosh, Richard later was a cheese-maker for Borden's Cheese Company in New London, Wisconsin, prior to his retirement. He was an active participant for Omro 2nd Harvest. He was a member of St. Raphael the Arch Angel Catholic Church. Richard served his country with the U.S. Navy as a young man.
Left to mourn Richard's passing are his five children, Terri (Duane) Richter of Oshkosh, Bruce (Laurie) Steinike of Appleton, Margie (John) Campbell of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, Roger (Lori) Steinike of Princeton, and Russ (Jannette) Steinike of Mill Creek, Washington; 11 grandchildren, Scott, Paula, Melissa (Steve), Chris (April), Kevin (fiancée - Taylor), Clint (girlfriend - Stephanie), Chelssie, Leaya, Bradley, Carissa, and Spencer; three great-grandchildren, Mekenna, Adrianna, and Kannon; a great-step-grandson, Skyler; two brothers, Robert (Bonnie) Steinike of Oshkosh and William (Arloa) Steinike of Grafton; two sisters-in-law, Donna (Dearld) Ohm of Fond du Lac and Beverly Steinike of Oshkosh; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Richard in death is his wife, parents, and three brothers, Nolan, Charles, and James Steinike.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. in Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, with Reverend Douglas LeCaptain officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery at Ripon, Wisconsin. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel and also on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
