Rick R. Reuther, age 48, of Omro, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Friday afternoon, June 3, 2005. He was born April 16, 1957 in Manitowoc, WI., the son of Roman and Joan (Schleinkofer) Reuther. Rick grew up in Oshkosh, attended UW-Oshkosh, and married Gloria Youngwirth at St. Peter's Catholic Church on March 12, 1983. They moved to Omro in 1997 and Rick was currently serving his second term as Alderman for the City of Omro. Rick was friendly, outgoing, and loved helping other people. Rick and Gloria lived by the river and together enjoyed fishing, boating and a good glass of wine by the outside fireplace. He had worked as a Financial Specialist for Winnebago Mental Health Institute in Oshkosh for the past 20 years.
Rick was deeply loved and will be missed by his wife, Gloria; mother, Joan Reuther of Oshkosh; two sisters, Jody (Daniel) Dickson of Oshkosh and Jerri (David) Platta of Zittau; mother-in-law, Laverne Youngwirth of Oshkosh; brothers-in-law, George (Judi) Youngwirth of Aurora, Colorado, Gary (Donna) Youngwirth of Green Bay, Steve (Cindy) Youngwirth of Oshkosh, Wayne (Suzanne) Youngwirth of Oshkosh, Jerome (Lori) Youngwirth of Australia and David "Slim" (Barbara) Youngwirth of Oshkosh; sister-in-law, Mary (Bob) Troiber of Oshkosh, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 6, 2005 at the funeral home in Omro from 4-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to the Carter Memorial Library in Omro.
