Robert D. Berndt, age 80, of Oshkosh, died Wednesday evening, December 5, 2007 at Northpoint Medical & Rehabilitation Center. He was born on October 4, 1927 in Oshkosh to Alfred and Rose (Krug) Berndt. Bob married Donna Middleton and she preceded him in death on March 9, 2006.
Bob was a Master Plumber who was employed by M.P. Kelly Plumbing and Heating. He was later employed by the Oshkosh Public School District as the Superintendent of the Building and Grounds for 29 years until his retirement in 1987. Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a Master Sergeant, receiving four Bronze Service Stars. He was a member of Oshkosh American Legion Cook-Fuller Post #70.
Survivors include four sons, Rob (Roxanne) Berndt of Larsen, Bruce (Kathryn) Berndt of Oshkosh, Russ (Denise) Berndt of Waukesha, and Bryan (Shannon) Berndt of Ft. Worth, Texas; their mother, Betty Pollack of Oshkosh; eight grandchildren, Rebecca (Chris) Braman and Jason Berndt, Jordon and Logon Berndt, Taylor and Allyson Berndt, Grace Margaret and Annie Rose Berndt; three great-grandchildren, Sydney, Collin, and Camille; a sister, Eunice Martin of Oshkosh; and special friends, Annie and Jonathon. Preceding Bob in death are his wife, parents, and a sister, Betty Ziebell.
