Obituary

Dr. Robert "Bob" Challoner, age 80, of Oshkosh, died suddenly at home on Wednesday afternoon, January 31, 2007. Bob was born on October 26, 1926, on the family farm in Omro, the son of Ira and Esther (Craig) Challoner. He was educated in the Omro School System and was a 1944 graduate of Omro High School. Bob graduated from Iowa State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1960. Bob practiced in Richland Center from 1960 -1962. He married Sandra Nixon of Neenah on January 27, 1962. This union was blessed with three children.

Moving back home after leaving Richland Center, Bob practiced in the Oshkosh area until his retirement in 1986. During his years as a Veterinarian, Bob was a member of a number of National, State and Local Veterinary Associations. Locally, he was a member of Algoma Blvd. United Methodist Church in Oshkosh and the Omro Masonic Lodge #168, Free & Accepted Masons. Bob was a true outdoorsman. He enjoyed bird watching, feeding ducks, fishing and hunting. Bob spent countless hours gardening on the farm, which has been in his family for over 150 years. Bob was a friend to many and a true friend to all animals. His greatest source of pride and joy was his grandchildren.

Bob is loved and will be missed by his wife, Sandra; children, Laurel of Madison, Craig of Omro and Scott (Carolyn) of Neenah; grandchildren, Sophia, Matthew and Reed; sisters, Ruth (Rex) Stone of Waukau, Mary (Eldon) Lee of Oshkosh and Elaine Challoner of Omro; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and colleagues.

If one family is together, it's always a family. Even if one is in heaven, they're still in your heart. – Matthew Challoner, age 6.
