Obituary

Omro - Robert E. "Bob" Eckstein of Omro, age 79, passed away peacefully in his home on March 13, 2021 with his loving family by his side. He was born on January 29, 1942 son of the late Lawrence and Evelyn (Parker) Eckstein.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara; his children, Robert (Lynn), Kenneth (Mary), Peggy (Ryan) Thomas; his grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan) Quinn, Zac Thomas, Ben, Michael, Daric, Matthew, Dylan, and Kate (Inert) Gilles; great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Trinity, Jayden, Cooper, Sophie, and Waverly; brothers, Lawrence (Vernie), Kay, Lee (Ann) Smith; sisters, Marion (Bill) Peters, Shirley (Joseph Jr.) Perzentka; he is further survived by many nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, and a brother-in-law, as well as three great friends, Dan Z., Myles R., and Terry W.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; Lawrence and Evelyn (Parker) Eckstein; sister, Betty Dombrowski; brothers, James, Leo, and Alan. Along with two special friends, Joe Brown, and Glen Greinke.

Bob was a dump truck driver for many years. He always said he drove more miles backwards then you have ever driven forwards. He loved fishing, hunting, and most of all smoking chickens in his garage for all to enjoy. For the last four months, Bob told everyone he was going to "cat heaven" and if you knew him you knew what he meant by his sense of humor. He was that kind of guy who always put others first and would leave you with a smile on your face. If he could kiss you on the face you were getting planted with a wet one or an open armed hug.

We will be doing a celebration of life to honor Bob on April 10, 2021 at the Marine Corps in Oshkosh, 4715 Sherman Road beginning at 1pm as his last wish was to have a celebration of life instead of a funeral service. He wants everyone to honor him with Kesslers, laughs, and a ton of love.
