Obituary

Robert Louis Hildebrandt

Lifelong Oshkosh resident, Bob Hildebrandt died peacefully on Monday, November 23, 2009. Bob was born on May 16, 1935, the son of Louis and Esther Hildebrandt and brother of Fern Hildebrandt Kargus.

Bob met the love of his life, Constance Angle, at an Eagles Club dance. They were married on April 25, 1959 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Bob and Connie were blessed as the proud parents of their two children, Deb and Dave, and three grandchildren, Hannah, Holly and Hunter, who brought much delight to their lives.

Bob worked as a printer all his life. He loved sailing and was a member of the South Side Ice Yacht Club for over 40 years. One of his greatest hobbies was buying and selling boats and cars of all types.

Bob was the kind of guy that loved life so much, that after being with him, you walked away with a smile on your face and a little lighter step. He was a sailor, a musician, a storyteller, a wood carver, a natural athlete...a generous friend to all. Bob played the accordion in several local bands and was a life member of the Local 46 Oshkosh Musicians Union. Bob was an avid piano player and was able to create his own rendition of any song he heard on the radio. He and Connie often enjoyed garden parties in their beautiful backyard with live music.

Despite physical challenges he faced later in his life, Bob thrived and succeeded at so much with Connie's loving care and never a complaint. Bob was an inspiration to many and will be greatly missed by all those people whose lives he touched. The sadness of this day is only balanced by the joy of knowing that Bob has found eternal peace and is now reunited with his beloved daughter Deb.
