Robert R. "Bob" Rilling, age 79, of rural Omro, died Wednesday morning, June 30, 2010, at the Omro Care Center surrounded by his family and special friend, Bernice. He was born August 15, 1930, in Oshkosh, the son of Morris and Madge (Liddle) Rilling. Bob grew up in the Omro area and was educated in the Omro Schools. Bob was a true country boy at heart. He enjoyed farming, cows, ice cream cones, going for rides and looking at all his neighbor's crops, effectively becoming everyone's crop manager. Bob also enjoyed going to the 4-Corners Restaurant and attending the round table discussions at the Main St. Restaurant in Omro. Above all else, family was very important to Bob and he cherished the times spent with his children and grandchildren.
Bob is survived and will be missed by his children, Joann Rilling of Oshkosh, Steve (Brenda) Rilling of Oakfield, Karen Breitenbach of Omro, Mary (Quint) Derr of Neenah, Judy (Milt) Kahl of Omro, Susan (Tiff) Phillips of Winneconne, Sandy (Doug) VanderKelen of Berlin and Jane (Lester) Pongratz of Berlin; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, John (Janice) Rilling of Omro, Gary (Joan) Rilling of Wild Rose and Russell (Peggy) Rilling of Omro; special friend, Bernice Vonderloh of Omro; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janet (the late Quincy) Heise; and grandsons, James Doemel and Adam Rilling.
In respect to Bob's memory, the family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the funeral home from 4:00 P.M. until the time of the funeral services at 7:00 P.M. Bob will be laid to rest at the Waukau Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
