Obituary

Robert T. Rohan, age 75, died on Sunday, August 15, 2021 from Multiple Myeloma/Agent Orange. He died at home with his family at his side. He was born on August 12, 1946, son of the late Pat and Virginia (Bartels) Rohan. On April 12, 1969 he married his wife of 52 years, Michelle "Mickie" Hable. He graduated from Omro High School in 1964 and entered the Army with the C Co., Third battalion, Eighth Infantry, Fourth Division, the "Ivy League." He served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967. Every two years, C Co. has held a reunion somewhere in the U.S., hosted by a C Co. veteran. In 2016 the reunion was held in Omro, hosted by Bob and fellow veterans Don and Barb Zarling, and Myron and Joy Mleziva. C Co. is truly a Band of Brothers. Bob was proud to be a member of the Omro American Legion. Within a week of Bob's return from Vietnam, he joined the Omro-Rushford Fire Dept., forming another Bond of Brotherhood. Bob proudly served with the ORVFD for 53 years. He was so proud of the time and dedication these men and woman have given to make this department one of the best departments around, by far. He felt it represented the "Best of Omro." On May 29, 2019 Bob was honored to be on the Mission 50 Old Glory Honor Flight to Washington D.C. with Gary Marks and his cousin, Jim Bartels. All served in Vietnam at the same time.

Bob worked for Glatfelter Co. of Neenah for 42 years as an environmental supervisor. He loved old cars and spent many hours with his friend, Gary Marks restoring them. You could always find the two of them at some car show, somewhere.

Bob loved to travel with Mickie. This often included traveling with Gary and Paula Marks or with Myron and Joy Mleziva. They saw all but four states. One of his favorite trips was Route 66 from Chicago to the Santa Monica Pier.

Bob will be remembered for the love he had for his family. He loved watching his grand kids play T-Ball, football, baseball, basketball, track and cross country. They sure kept him busy.

Bob is survived by his wife, Mickie; three daughters: Nikki (Tom) Dobberstein, Trista (Ryan) Rahn, and Erin (Jeff) Lang; one granddaughter, Payton Rahn; five grandsons: Ian (Heather) Dobberstein, Ty Dobberstein, Keenan Rahn, and Rohan and Manning Lang; sister, Patti (Chris B. Kain) Palecek; brother, Gene Rohan; brothers-in-law: Tom (Jennifer) Hable, Larry (Judy) Hable, Richard (Bobi) Hable and Mark (Linda) Hable; sister-in-law, Danette (David) Wyatt; nine nieces: Debbie (Scott) Wagner, Dawn Rohan, Deanna Rohan, Amy (Jeff) Hill, Kelly Hable, Cindy (Rick) McLaughlin, Jennifer (Steve) Schroeder, Brandi (Mark) Rilling and Meghan (Isaac) Archer; seven nephews: Doug Rohan, Kyle (Amanda) Palecek, Scott Hable, Mike (Kathryn) Hable, Brian Hable, Josh (Trisha) Friday and Justin Hable; and numerous great nieces and nephews, aunts and cousins. Bob was so blessed to have some special friends: Gary Marks, cousin Jim Bartels, Mike Domke, Myron Mleziva, Merv Heuer, Byron Perry, his C Co. brothers, and his brothers and sisters of the Omro Fire Department and the wonderful class of "64."

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Ginny Rohan; in-laws, Herbert and Ardis (Curtis) Hable; sisters-in-law: Gail Hable and Janniece Rohan; and brother-in-law, Stan Palecek.
