Robert T. Schaefer, age 93, of Oshkosh, passed away January 18, 2016. Bob was born July 22, 1922, in Kaukauna, son of Carl and Carrie (Nelson) Schaefer. He grew up and attended high school in Omro, then residing in Oshkosh until his death. Bob served his country as a member of the Army during WWII, in Germany, and was honorably discharged in October, 1945. Bob enjoyed hunting, attending gun shows, and was a lifetime member of the NRA. He was also an avid NASCAR fan, traveling to various races throughout his life. Bob truly loved his cats, all is succession, named "Tom."
Bob is survived by cousins, Rose Marie Cleary, Lois (Nelson) Kreklow and her family, Shawn (Mike) Gretzinger, who loved and cared for Bob, especially during his last years, Michele Rivers, Jelaine Kreklow, Kimberlie (Darrell) Trout, Kurt (Rita) Kreklow, and Hans (Melissa) Kreklow, and their families; a niece, Karen Bechmann, and a nephew, Richard Bechmann. Preceding him in death were his parents; and his sister, Opal Bechmann.
A memorial service will be held at Seefeld Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Timothy Greenwald officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Bob's family would like to thank the friends and staff at St. Joseph Residence in New London for their loving care.
