Robert E. "Bob" Steinike, age 80, of Oshkosh, died Thursday evening, February 17, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center. Born on January 22, 1931, in Oshkosh, to Robert F. and Frieda M. (Mittelstadt) Steinike, Bob married Bonnie L. Olsen on July 25, 1953 in Appleton. Together they shared the joys and trials of 57 years of married life.
Employed for over 15 years by Nercon Engineering & Manufacturing Inc., Bob was an active Scout Leader of Troop #6, a member of Winnebago Barbershop Chorus, and belonged to Wesley United Methodist Church. During the Korean War, Bob served with his brother, Richard, in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955.
Mourning his passing is his wife, Bonnie Steinike of Oshkosh; a son, David (Nancy) Steinike of Appleton; two granddaughters, Lara and Kristen Steinike; a brother, William (Arloa) Steinike of Grafton; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Bob in death is a son, Andrew Steinike, his parents, and four brothers, Nolan, Charles, Richard, and James Steinike.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 21, 2011, at 1 p.m. in Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, with Reverend Jakes Voker officiating. Family and friends may gather from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral chapel. Expressions of sympathy may be given to the Boy Scouts of America in Bob's memory.
