Robert S. Wilson, age 56, of Oshkosh, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, at his home, with his family at his side, on Monday, April 19, 2010. Born on November 8, 1953, in Berlin, Wisconsin, the son of Gordon Sterling and Ruth Elizabeth (Moriearty) Wilson, Robert married Melody K. Miller on May 22, 2009, after a long and loving relationship. He worked for Morgan Lumber Company for 37 years; then for Jeld-Wen Company. Robert will be remembered for his love of fishing, the Packers, softball, his family, and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Melody; a son, Adam (Laura Leyh) Wilson of Oshkosh; three step-children, Troy Schoell of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Kimberly Schoell of Oshkosh, and Christopher (Jennifer Johannes) Alfonso of Grand Chute; a grandson, Sayid Wilson; four step-grandchildren, Nicole Rouse, Kristopher Tiryung, Austin Leyh, and Benjamin Boushele. Robert is further survived by six beloved brothers, Gary (Sharon) Wilson of Berlin, Richard (Kay) Wilson of Naples, Florida, Jeffrey (Sharon) Wilson of Omro, Peter (Katherine Wilson of Oshkosh, Allan (Debra) Wilson of Oshkosh, and Calvin (Constance) Wilson of Ripon; four beloved sisters, Jeanne (Leo) Hinz of Sheboygan, Marilyn (Orval "Sonny") Osheim, Jr. of Ripon, Lola Wilson of Oshkosh, and Kathleen (Charles) Prince of Winneconne; a brother-in-law, Craig (Leaann) Miller; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Preceding Robert in death are his parents, grandparents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, a sister, Susan Wilson, a step-son, Eric Schoell, a nephew, Paul Wilson, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service celebrating Robert's life will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in First Presbyterian Church, 110 Church Ave., with Reverend Thomas Willadsen officiating. A time of visiting and support for the Wilson family will be held at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Robert will be laid to rest at Lake View Memorial Park with a luncheon at the church following the service.
