Obituary

Robert J. "Bob" Wipf, age 66, of Omro, died suddenly on Memorial Day, May 27, 2013. He was born February 15, 1947, in Stevens Point, the son of Conrad and Virginia (Bracy) Wipf. He graduated from Omro High School in 1965. Bob married the love of his life, Cyndi Craig, at the Waukau United Methodist Church on August 15, 1975. Bob was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran, serving on the USS Josephus Daniels for 6 years. He was an active member and former adjutant for many years of the American Legion Post 234 of Omro; adjutant of the American Legion District 6; and correspondant of the 40 & 8 Voiture 751. He was passionate about providing a warm welcome home to today's returning veterans. He took great pleasure in his involvement with "Flags for First Graders" and the Nurse's Scholarship program in the 40 & 8. Bob was an enthusiastic "car guy," and the technical skills he developed in the Navy launched him on his business career in automotive technology, during which he worked as a small business owner, an educator, and a research manager. He thoroughly enjoyed retirement, and highly recommended it. If you were around Bob for long, chances are you were sucked into one of his "big" stories. He loved to share his experiences and always had something to offer, but was a good listener and problem solver, too. Cyndi's "Mr. Fix-it" was a wonderful husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, friend and all around "good guy".

Bob is loved and will be missed by his wife, Cyndi; son, Christopher (Elizabeth Horstmann) Wipf; brother, Bill Wipf; sister, Julie Nickolai; father-in-law, Richard Craig; brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul (Gerrie) Craig, Dennis (Sandy) Craig, Dan (Darlene) Craig, Patty (Bob) Fink; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Lewis Hoeft; infant brother, John; mother-in-law, Inez Craig; brother-in-law, Darhl Craig.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Kwiatkowski Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and again on Friday, May 31, 2013, at the Waukau United Methodist Church, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Kristen Lowe officiating. Military honors will follow the service at the church, after which a light lunch will be offered. A memorial in his honor is being established.

The family wishes to thank the Omro police, first responders, and ambulance personnel; the E.R. doctor and staff at Aurora; Ken and Helen Larsen, Vernita Fink, Ken Jungwirth, Rick and Darlene Deiss; and Roger Kasuboski for his nonstop prayers for Bob.

Bob served God, loved family and friends, had a quiet sense of pride, and a never-ending commitment to duty. He died where he wanted to be, doing exactly what he wanted to do.
