Roberta C. Huntington, age 77, of Oshkosh, died Saturday morning, January 19, 2013, at Gabriel's Villa, after battling cancer. Born on November 22, 1935, in Onalaska to Robert and Elizabeth (Bender) Rice, Roberta married Darrel Huntington on July 7, 1956 in La Crosse. Employed as a secretary for Ted Hoyer Inc. for over 30 years, Roberta enjoyed world travel with Darrel and sewing doll clothes for her two granddaughters.
Left to mourn her passing is her husband, Darrel; her children, Alan (Debra) Huntington of Green Bay and Carol (Greg) Hensel of Oshkosh; two granddaughters, Allison Huntington and Abigail Hensel; her mother, Elizabeth Rice of La Crosse; her siblings, Mari Walker, Beverly (Rich) Kastenschmidt, Robert (Ruth) Rice Jr., Barbara (Everett) Fancher-Servais, Beth (Larry) Bathke, and Jane (Jerry) Zeroth; a sister-in-law, Shirley Sitter; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Roberta in death is her father and three brothers-in-law.
A time to remember Roberta's life will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2013, at 6:00 p.m. in Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street. Interment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in La Crosse at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until time of the service. A memorial is being established in Roberta's memory by her family.
Roberta's family extends a very sincere thank you to Dr. Daly and Dr. Janusonis, the staff of Gabriel's Villa, and Aurora Hospice for the kindness and care given to Roberta during her illness.
