Ronald C. King, age 83, of Omro, died peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family on Saturday, December 24, 2005. He was born December 12, 1922 in the Town of Rushford, the son of Ralph and Avis (Hackney) King. On May 26, 1945 he was united in marriage to Florence Kallas at the St. Mary's Parsonage in Winneconne.

Ronald was employed at Kraft Foods in Omro for 17 years, Jet Car Wash in Oshkosh for 10 years, Treleven Electric Service for two years, and Omro Care Center for 10 years until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Omro, past member of the Omro Jaycees, Omro Kiwanis, member of the Omro School Board for two terms, active in the consolidation of the Enterprise School and the building of the new High School.

His favorite pastime was watching sports of all kinds, whether it was grade school, high school or college. He has attended almost all football games in Omro since his sons started playing in 1967. He did this right up until the time he became ill. Ronald was an avid U.W. Titans fan. If you participated in any sports in the Winnebago County area, he and his good friend, Donnie Bohn, probably saw you there. Ronald always had plenty of praise for the hometown athletes.

His hobbies included wood working projects, framing pictures, yard work, gardening, growing raspberries, picking hickory nuts, traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Ronald always did maintenance and was very handy.

Survivors include his wife of over 60 years, Florence; two daughters, Kay (Jim) Demler of Palmyra, WI., and Sallie (Dick) Porto of New Berlin, WI; four sons, Tom King of Menasha, Dennis (Chris) King of Oshkosh, Alan (Kerry) King of Oshkosh and Kelly (Debbie) King of Butte des Morts; 13 grandchildren, Mandee and Kendra Demler, Tristan and Angela Porto, Blythe King, Leah (Waldner) Saint-Fort, Robert, Riley, Adam, Lucas, Mariah, Abby and Clayton King; one brother, Sidney King; sisters, Ardyce Zillges, Phyllis Williams, and Shirley Krings; sister in law, Dorothy Coats; brother in law, Harry Kallas, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Orrin, Robert and Phillip King; and sisters, Marion Hall and Alyce Gorr.

In respect to Ronald's memory, a visitation will be held on Monday, December 26, 2005 at the funeral home in Omro from 4-8 p.m. and then on Tuesday at St. Mary's Parish in Omro from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. with Fr. Joseph Mattern officiating. Burial will follow in the Omro Cemetery. A memorial in his name has been established.
