Rose L. Nicolaisen, age 91, of Oshkosh, died Wednesday morning, December 16, 2009 at Evergreen Retirement Community. Born on January 6, 1918 in Oshkosh to Frank and Mary (Dubois) Roberts, Rose married Earl H. Nicolaisen on April 29, 1936 in Waupaca. Earl preceded Rose in death on December 12, 1999.


She was employed by Miles Kimball Company, Newberry 5 & 10, and lastly by Lenox Candle Shop until her retirement in 1980. Rose was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, was a known cake baker, enjoyed sewing & crafts, and "knew" how to play bingo.


Those left to mourn her passing is a son, Earl (Shirley) Nicolaisen, Jr. of Oshkosh; a daughter, Betty (Steve) Ploetz of Oshkosh; seven grandchildren, Steve (Dena) Ploetz, Scott (Nicole) Ploetz, Vicky (Mark) Wenzel, Tammy (Gary) Piotter, Gary Wittchow, Sue Wittchow, and Jeff Stahl; eight great-grandchildren, Jason and Josh Wittchow, Leah Piotter, Sarah Wenzel, Nicolas and Alex Ploetz, Kyle and Taylor Ploetz; and six step-great-grandchildren, Gessica, Noah, Elijah, Samantha, Chelsea, and Madison; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Rose in death are her husband and a daughter, Barbara Stahl.


Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 300 North Eagle Street, with Reverend Jeffrey Knoll officiating. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will be held at the funeral chapel on Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Rose's family wishes to thank the staff of Evergreen Creekview North and Heartland Hospice for the special care given to their mother and grandmother these past few months.
