Rudolph W. Freund, age 92, of Omro, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening, May 27, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center. Rudy was born on October 4, 1916, the son of Rudolph and Mary Schmitz Freund. He was a graduate of Milwaukee School of Engineering. Rudy married Elizabeth "Betty" Flanagan on March 24, 1941, in Dubuque, IA. He had many passions in life. Rudy enjoyed going on jungle rides, and very much enjoyed his cars, which included his Lincolns and his blue Mercedes. In his younger years, Rudy liked to go hunting with his brothers in law. He will best be remembered for his ability to talk to people from all walks of life and for mixing butter and sugar in almost everything he would eat and drink.

Rudy is loved and will be missed by his wife of 68 years, Betty; children, David (Barb) Freund of Rose, OK, Maribeth (Ralph) Nigl of Oshkosh, Connie (Jim) Whiteside of Anderson, SC and Richard Freund of Westfield, WI; grandchildren, Kim Freund, Dan "Goober" Freund, Cavic (Jennifer) Hannison, Kris (Greg) DeLuca, Tammy Freund, Kathleen (Justin) Berens, Mitzi Rogers, Andrew (Jennifer) Rogers, Rebecca (Greg Hibbard) Rogers, Stacy (John) Blake, Dennis Freund, Eric "Charlie" Freund, Bill Freund, Blythe Whiteside, Robert "R.J." Freund and Gennifer Freund. Rudy is further survived by 7 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; sisters, Rosemary Bodah and Wally Messerschmidt; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary; daughter in law, Marilyn; sisters, Pricilla and Esther and his brothers, Alex and Melvin.

In respect to RudyÂ's memory, the family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, June 1, 2009, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 730 Madison Ave., Omro, from 4:00 P.M. until 5:45 P.M. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 6:00 P.M. with Rev. William Van De Kreeke and Sr. Pam Biehl officiating. A memorial is being established.
