Russell E. Merrill, born April 3, 1927, passed away in his sleep on Saturday, December 30, 2006, at the age of 79. He was born in Oshkosh to Erwin C. and Ella (Metko) Merrill. He married Janet L. Ising on August 25, 1951. Russell was a loving husband and father. He was very devoted to his family and friends.

His memory will live on through his devoted wife of 55 years, Janet Merrill of Omro; children, Jay Robert (Nancy) Merrill of Oshkosh, Kathryn Amanda Wild of Ripon, Jane Elizabeth (Robert) Promer of Kaukauna, James Erwin (Peggy) Merrill of Iron Mountain, Michigan, Nancy Ellen (Michael) Sohr of Mesa, Arizona, Henry Russell (Elizabeth) Merrill and Timothy Michael (Colleen) Merrill both of Oshkosh; 26 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. His sister, Virginia Grable, preceded him in death.

A time of visitation and support will be held from 10-12:00 PM on Thursday, January 4th, at the Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street. Family services will be held privately. In preference to floral tributes, memorials to the Mercy Health Foundation are appreciated.
